After the Motorola Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro launched in Germany this year, the Edge 30 Ultra will follow soon. That is said to be the first smartphone to offer a 200-megapixel camera and is said to be priced at 899 euros.

Even before the Motorola Edge 30 Pro was launched here, details and a first picture of the Ultra model, codenamed Frontier , leaked out. The flagship should now officially start in July . Leaker Nils Ahrensmeier, who is usually well informed about Motorola smartphones, recently announced via Twitter that the smartphone with 12 + 256 gigabytes should cost 899 euros. However, the price could vary slightly, because he saw the Motorola Razr 3 , which is also planned for summer , in dealer listings for 1,149 and 1,299 euros.

First smartphone with 200 megapixels

The unique selling point of the Edge 30 Ultra will be the 200 megapixel main camera. This is probably the Samsung Isocell HP1 , which was recently replaced by the HP3 , but has never been used in a smartphone. At 1/1.22 inches , the sensor is slightly smaller than the recently presented Sony IMX989 in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra . In view of the significantly higher resolution, the Motorola model could theoretically take more detailed pictures, but that remains to be seen. The effective resolution of the photos will decrease anyway due to pixel binning.

However, teasers of the Chinese model, Moto X30 Pro, suggest that the manufacturer also installs two telephoto cameras. An earlier leak, however, spoke of a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera with double optical zoom and 12 megapixels. A 60 megapixel sharp selfie camera is installed at the front.

In addition, the Ultra model should offer a 6.67-inch OLED display with 144 Hertz, a battery with 4,500 mAh and the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 . Motorola is said to be using 125-watt fast charging via USB-C and up to 50-watt induction charging. It is currently unclear whether the manufacturer is also planning other storage variants for Europe.
