Seasonic has presented the two new top models in the Prime TX and Prime PX series with 1,600 watts and two 12VHPWR plugs . With this, the manufacturer is already taking into account the probable development of the power loss of future graphics cards. AMD’s RDNA 3 and Nvidia’s Ada are said to be thirsty.
Seasonic is expanding its portfolio of high-end power supplies with 80Plus Platinum and Titanium certification to include two new top models with 1,600 watts and, with two 12VHPWR connectors, is already serving the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 7000 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 graphics card series will face the duel for the GPU throne by the end of the year at the latest. However, Intel’s first dedicated graphics card generation , the Alchemist , is not yet ready for a real three-way battle.
Stronger power supplies for even more power loss
Which of the sometimes wild speculations in the rumor mill, which give the hybrid “chiplet GPUs” based on RDNA 3 and the monolithic Ada graphics processors strongly fluctuating TDP and TGP ratings of 450 to 900 watts almost every week, will really be correct , remains to be seen – but it is no longer a secret that the peak power consumption will increase significantly again.
